Hopkinsville Young Professionals Engage will host a debate next month for candidates in several races in the general election.
It will be Thursday, September 27th from 5:30 until 8 p.m. at Hopkinsville Community College and will feature candidates running for mayor of Hopkinsville and for state representative in districts 8 and 9, according to the organization’s Facebook page.
Mayor Carter Hendricks is opposed by former mayor Wally Bryan, former city councilman Jason McCraw and Walter Shamble. District 8 Representative Walker Thomas is facing former Representative Jeff Taylor and District 9 Representative Myron Dossett is opposed by Democrat William Coleman.
HYPE says, “The debate is created to encourage an environment that not only serves democratic equality but allows attendees the opportunity to be more informed of each participating candidate.”
