The James Bruce Convention Center celebrated 15 years of service with a birthday party Thursday afternoon and the facility’s new logo was unveiled.
Conference Center Board Chair Darrell Gustafson recognized all board members, past and present, and introduced each member of the center’s staff to the crowd that came to celebrate. He says 15 years is a long time and they continue to make the center and the area around it a destination location, with the recent construction taking place and yet to come.
He says the new hotel and Sportsplex will bring even larger events to the center, which will soon be able to house 1,400 people during events. Gustafson says the dream of a convention center began in 1996, when they began looking for a while to help Hopkinsville stand out.
He says as they look to the future, it is their mission to continue offering professional service while being unique and innovative.
The expansion is set to be completed in the fall and the new logo was revealed, which will aid in marketing and tourism. In 15 years, the center has hosted 750,000 people and been home to around 3,700 events.
