Cable television subscribers in Hopkinsville who have Spectrum as their provider will have to use a digital box to watch anything, effective October 2nd.
Customers who currently have a cable plugged directly into the rear of their television must order a self-installation kit to continue service with a box on each TV.
City officials issued a news release Thursday, saying Spectrum is generating detailed instructions about the upcoming transition on August 30th with billing statement messages beginning September 2nd. Spectrum has also indicated plans to offer one or more free set-top-boxes for a limited time. Additional boxes are currently priced at $6.99 each per month.
Mayor Carter Hendricks, in collaboration with the Hopkinsville Cable Television Oversight Authority, is welcoming Spectrum residential and business customers who wish to ask questions or voice concerns about the process to submit feedback about their experiences during this transition.
Feedback can be submitted online here, by emailing ndurham@hopkinsvilleky.us or by calling 270-890-0200.
There will also be an opportunity to offer feedback in person Friday morning at the Cable Television Oversight Authority meeting at 8:30 a.m. in the downtown Municipal Building.
Mayor Hendricks says, “While the City has very little authority over decisions related to the roll out of the transition, we think it is important that the public be kept informed throughout the process. “
