The Rotary Club of Hopkinsville heard from the United Way of the Pennyrile at Tuesday’s meeting as the organization gears up to begin its annual fundraising campaign.
The campaign kick-off breakfast is September 13, but President and CEO Annie Catron says their new website launches Monday, where people can donate and gain information about United Way and the agencies it serves.
This year’s campaign co-chairs are Chris Gilkey and Russ Guffey, and Guffey took a moment to talk about the tremendous impact the United Way has in Christian, Todd, Trigg and Caldwell counties.
He says in 2017, the United Way supported agencies that served about 137,000 meals, distributed 13.2 tons of food, and tutored nearly 2,000 children and more. Gilkey says although they haven’t announced the fundraising goal for this year yet, they’re really pushing to make this year successful to make sure the agencies get the funding they need.
The theme for the upcoming campaign is Dynamic Duos: The United Way and You. To stay up-to-date with what’s taking place, like the United Way of the Pennyrile on Facebook.
