The Honor Flight Bluegrass program is well known in Kentucky, including in Hopkinsville, where organizers will bring a B-25 Bomber plane to Hopkinsville on Saturday.
Appearing on WHOP Wednesday with several representatives, Honor Flight Vice-Chair and B-25 Barnstorming Tour Coordiantor Jeff Thoke says the plane will be at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Airport Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. with a flight available at 7 p.m.
There will be a second flight session Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. and Thoke says they want to fly veterans first and then civilians if there’s available seats.
It is $300 per seat to ride and Thoke says they’re looking for people to sponsor seats for veterans to fly on the hour-long tour. The Honor Flight program is best known for its flights to Washington D.C. where veterans are able to tour the memorials and monuments.
World War II Navy Veteran Duain Saltsgiver says that trip is truly a once-in-a-life-time experience.
