An investigation at a Princeton Road location Sunday night led to the arrest of a local man on several charges and police say he had a bomb in his home.
Deputies were called to the residence in the 10000 block after the female victim ran to a neighbor’s home seeking help. Police found 26-year old Trevor Putty of Hopkinsville on a motorcycle and he denied that they had been in a fight.
The victim said he had struck her toe with a hammer and put a gun to her head and stomach and made threats to further harm her. She gave deputies consent to search the home and police say they found a modified shotgun and a handgun.
A device in the home containing a powdery substance that had wires on the outside appeared to be a bomb and state investigators confirmed that it was, according to the report. Putty reportedly said a friend gave it to him and said the guns weren’t his.
He was arrested and charged by the sheriff’s department with wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and several charges related to not having insurance or registration on his motorcycle.
State Police charged him with use of a weapon of mass destruction, according to the jail website.
