The Pittsburgh Pirates jumped out to a 9-0 lead and cruised past the Cincinnati Reds 9-2. Matt Harvey surrendered eight runs across three-and-two-thirds innings to take the loss. Cincinnati is on a four-game slide as the Reds open a three game series with the St. Louis Cardinals tonight at Great American Ball Park.
Elsewhere in the National League: Kyle Schwarber hit the go-ahead solo home run in the sixth inning as the Chicago Cubs dropped the St. Louis Cardinals 7-2. Matt Carpenter’s streak of six-straight games with a home run came to an end. The Cubs continue their home stand this evening welcoming the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Washington Nationals got a 6-2 win over the Atlanta Braves. The Braves continue their road swing with the opening game of a series at the Miami Marlins this evening.
