Attorneys for the woman charged with manslaughter in connection with the October, 2016 death of her infant son haven’t given up on resolving the case before a potential second trial.
The first trial ended with a hung jury and attorney Michael Thompson asked Judge John Atkins Wednesday morning for some additional time before setting a date for a new trial.
A pre-trial conference was set for August 8th, but Judge Atkins says a trial date will be set at that point if a plea deal isn’t reached.
Catlett’s nine-month old son fell into a bathtub while being bathed at their Evergreen Park Drive home and emergency responders arrived to find the infant not breathing. The defense has contended his death was a tragic accident, while the Commonwealth attributes the death to wanton neglect.
