Rep. Dossett celebrates passage of veterans benefits act

Representative Myron Dossett of Pembroke is celebrating the passage of the VA Mission Act from the United States Senate, which ensures pre-9/11 veterans will receive expanded benefits for caregiver cost.

According to a news release, Representative Dossett filed House Bill Resolution 249 in the past legislative session, urging Congress to pass the Military and Veteran Caregiver Services Improvement Act of 2017. The resolution was adopted by the Kentucky House of Representatives in April.

Representative Dossett says, “This issue is very important to veterans across the country, especially in Hopkins and Christian counties, which I represent, and is home to countless people who have protected and served our country. I’m happy these veterans will begin to receive more support.”

Veteran Robert Kaminski says this bill is very important because it treats all veterans fairly and guarantees all veterans are getting the care they deserve.

The bill now goes to President Donald Trump to be signed into law.
