Hopkinsville Community College honored the 2018 scholarship recipients at the seventh annual HCC Foundation Scholarship Awards Luncheon Friday.
150 HCC students received several differing scholarships, including the Atwood Textbook, Anderson, Booker Memorial, Billie and Kathleen, Hopkinsville Rotary, Cadiz Rotary, Clara Wheeler Memorial, David J. Riley Servant’s Heart and Frances Breathitt Memorial scholarships.
Joseph Harris currently attends HCC and after graduating, he intends to attend Murray State University. He says he is considered a non-traditional student, being 45 years old with a teenage daughter, and says these scholarships allow people like him to attend college and pursue their goals.
Stephen Humphries will attend Western Kentucky University after graduating from HCC, and is a recipient of the Rotary Scholars program. He thanked the donors for their support, saying those who donate impact the lives of students across the region in a big way.
HCC President Dr. Alissa Young says the Foundation’s asset endowments have grown exponentially since its inception in 2008, with the value now at $4.5 million.
Dr. Young recognized Jo Glover, who has served as the President of the HCC Foundation for several years and who will soon be stepping down from the position, thanking her for her tireless dedication to the community and students of HCC.
