The Kiwanis Club of Hopkinsville heard a presentation from Hopkinsville Electric System President and CEO Jeff Hurd Thursday about upcoming projects.
Hurd gave a brief history of HES and the impact they have had on the community, including sponsoring many local agencies and having 100 percent employee participation in giving to the United Way of Pennyrile. He says they have several projects coming up, including changing all street lights over to LED lights to help conserve energy.
Hurd says the biggest announcement HES is excited about is their “Gig-City” project, which will eventually bring a gig of internet speed to homes across Hopkinsville.
He encouraged people to go online to the Hopkinsville Electric System & EnergyNet website and sign up for the gig service to come to your area, so they know where the most interest is. It is currently available in Holiday Park, Eagle’s Cove, Canterbury Apartments, Slate Run and Shadowood.
