The Kentucky Farm Bureau is celebrating higher education and a tremendous milestone, as they awarded the highest amount in scholarship in the program’s history recently.
The Kentucky Farm Bureau Education Foundation awarded 634 scholarships to students from across the Commonwealth in the amount of $980,750, including the county Farm Bureaus. This brings the total amount of scholarships awarded to more than $4.8 million since the program’s inception in 1953.
Statewide scholarships are awarded to students attending a Kentucky college, university, community college or proprietary school who are pursuing a degree in agriculture or a related field, those attending a Kentucky college or university who are pursuing a four-year degree in animal health/veterinary technology, students attending a Kentucky college or university who come from farm families and more.
Locally, the Christian County Farm Bureau awarded $1,000 scholarships to Grace Cansler, Jilliam McCourt, Charles Maddux, Lauren Mayes, Audrey Perry and Sahara Peterson. The Hopkins County Farm Bureau awarded a $2,000 scholarship to Aiden Clark and Mary Starks and also presented $4,000 Ag. Scholarships to Avery Crane and Alexavier Garrott.
The Trigg County Farm Bureau presented scholarships to Chloe Adams, Ethan Curling, Jadon Ennis, Brooke Humphries, Riley Shaughnessy and Hattie Shemwell, each in the amount of $500.
Madison French of Caldwell County received a $1,000 KFB Education Foundation Scholarship, as did Aiden Clark of Hopkins, Josie Taylor of Livingston County and Lillian Chaney of Muhlenberg County.
