The possibility of hazardous material closed a portion of Fort Campbell Boulevard near Lovers Lane Thursday morning as the Hopkinsville Fire Department investigated.
According to the fire department, the call came in about 7 a.m. when a passerby noticed a five-gallon bucket that had tipped over, and had spilled a liquid that was smoking. Crews responded and shutdown the northbound flow of traffic was they investigated.
It was determined that the bucket contained an acid-based wash that is used on masonry block, and it is believed to have fallen off of a truck traveling through.
There was no threat and solid waste was requested to properly dispose of the bucket.
