Clarksville Police Chief recognizes two soldiers for restraining armed suspect

Fort Campbell soldiers Sgt. Maisen Temple and Sgt. Jacob Paz recently received citizen commendation certificates from Clarksville Police Chief Ty Burdine for restraining an armed suspect.

According to a Fort Campbell news release, on May 14, Temple and Paz were at an establishment on Riverside Drive in Clarksville when an intoxicated person entered and was armed with a pistol. The pair reportedly restrained the armed individual and prevented any shots from being fired.

Temple says he rushed after the suspect and forced his arms down so he couldn’t point the gun at anyone. Paz says Temple pushed the suspect toward him and they both wrestled him to the ground and held him so he couldn’t do anything.

Burdine says the pair’s willingness to step forward in a moment of danger reflects the very best of the United States Army and the community’s commitment to protecting others. Anthony Mintz, command sergeant major of the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, says the pair’s bravery and quick thinking represents the very DNA of the Screaming Eagles, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
