Pennyrile Electric Day, ag. shows, Go-Kart Racing take over WKSF Tuesday

Tuesday is Pennyrile Electric Day at the Western Kentucky State Fair, as the contests continue and races take over the grandstands.

And the fair is making up ground in the way of attendance, after rain and stormy weather caused some hiccups over the weekend. Fair Board Chair Kent Boyd reports that 3,601 people went through the gates Monday, ahead of last year’s Monday total, which was 2,130.

Gates open at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and Pennyrile Electric members will be able to get in for free with a coupon they should have received either from their issue of Kentucky Living Magazine or in their bucket they picked up during a member appreciation event. Fair Board Member Megan Marsh tells WHOP that those members will be able to get in free until 6 p.m.

There will also be two concerts performed by Little Roy and Lizze at the Gazebo starting at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., with $25 unlimited ride armband.

The 4H/FFA Rabbit and Poultry Show takes over the livestock pavilion starting at 6 p.m., with the Petting Zoo open across from there.  Then, Marsh says Go-Kart Racing will take over the grandstand starting at 7 p.m.—and the track is perfectly primed for it.

Back this year, as part of the 75th anniversary celebration, Marsh says the famous Clydesdale horses will be here all week, really bringing some charm and nostalgia with them.

Between the animals, the contests, the Ride by Drew, plenty and more food and drink choices, concerts and events in the grandstands, people should find plenty of fun to have at the Western Kentucky State Fair.
