After being located at 244 Main Street in Cadiz for the past 52 years, the John L. Street Public Library is set to relocate to a larger building.
On Tuesday, a rendering of the new building was shared on the library’s Facebook page, and it’s nearly double the size of the current building. The new building will include expanded shelving, a dedicated children’s area, a teen lounge, a makerspace, a reading room, a genealogy room, a drive-up window, meeting spaces and more parking.
A spokesperson for the library says the current building was expanded in 1995, doubling in size, but they have once again found themselves limited by space. They also affirmed that children will have safe access to the new location.
The library is set to move to the new location at 1938 Main Street in the spring of 2027.
