Evan Leonard had three hits and drove in a pair of runs to lead the visiting Hoptown Hoppers to a 7-3 victory over the Paducah Chiefs Monday night in Ohio Valley League play.
Brennen Gibson and Easton Beaty also had a pair of hits for Hoptown, which improved to 14-5.
The teams were tied 2-2 entering the fourth inning but Gibson and Zach Hampton had RBI-singles in the frame to put the Hoppers ahead 4-2. They would go on to add three runs in the eighth inning and cruise to the win.
Gabe Eddington picked up the pitching win in relief and Evan Woodard closed out the Chiefs, who fell to 9-10.
Henderson’s 11-6 win over Madisonville kept the Flash a half-game ahead of the Hoppers in the league standings. It was the 11th straight win for Henderson.
Full Count edged Fulton 2-0 in the other OVL game Monday.
The league has an off night tonight. The Hoppers return to action Wednesday night at home against Fulton on Host Family Night. Admission is free. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. and airtime is 6:15 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com.
