Hopkins Co. Humane Society receives $50k grant

The Hopkins County Humane Society is celebrating after receiving a hefty grant on Wednesday, set to help them maintain their temporary shelter while they await the start of their rebuild.

According to the humane society, the grant is in the amount of $50,000 and was granted by Todd Blevins, the Kentucky State Director of Humane World for Animals. The money will be used to offset the cost of renovations at their temporary shelter, as they continue to serve the animals while waiting for the rebuilding of their permanent site.

Officials say they are incredibly grateful for the continued support and partnership in Humane World, whose commitment to animal welfare has made a meaningful difference during this challenging time.

The former facility was badly damaged by storms in the summer of 2025 and had to be demolished. There are plans in place for a new, modern shelter to be built, but in the meantime, they are in temporary housing.

They say they are committed to ensuring that homeless animals in our community continue to receive the care, shelter, and second chances they deserve.
