The polls are closed on the 2026 Primary Election, and now candidates are anxiously awaiting the results.
Christian County Clerk Melinda Humphries says the voting picked up throughout the day, and as of about 30 minutes before 6 p.m. they were figuring that turnout to be about 16 percent of the electorate, which is fairly typical for a primary election.
As for those results everyone is so eagerly waiting to see, Humphries says they will post everything in one go on their website and Facebook pages, so everyone has them at the same time and accurately.
While some local races, such as the race for Sheriff and the Property Valuation Administrator will be determined today, others will go on to face opponents in November in the General Election. While the primary is closed to just the parties, the general election is open for everyone.
Statewide race results are beginning to trickle in, with eyes on who will replace the retiring U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell and the race for U.S. Representative in District 4.
