Dates and times for next week’s District 8 baseball and softball tournament were set during a meeting Wednesday morning at Hopkinsville High School.
The baseball tournament will begin at 5:30 p.m. Monday with No. 2 seed and host University Heights Academy taking on third-seed Fort Campbell. The No. 3-ranked Blazers are 26-5 on the season and defeated the Falcons 17-2 in March at Chris Simmons Field. The Falcons are 3-19 this season.
Monday’s winner will advance to play top seed Christian County at 6 p.m.Tuesday in the championship game at UHA. The Colonels (18-14) earned the top seed courtesy of a 5-3 victory over the Blazers last month. If Tuesday’s game is rained out, the title game would be played at 6 p.m. May 21.
Tickets are $10 each night are and cash only.

Meanwhile, the District 8 Softball Tournament will begin at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Christian County High School.
Hopkinsville, the No. 2 seed, is scheduled to play third seed Fort Campbell. The Lady Tigers are 1-14 on the season with their only win coming in a four-hour game against the Lady Falcons, 29-22. Fort Campbell is 2-12 on the season.
The winner advances to play top seeded Christian County (17-10-2) at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the championship game. The Lady Colonels have won 19 straight District 8 tournament championships and have not lost to a District 8 opponent since falling to University Heights Academy 8-4 in March of 2015.
If Tuesday’s game is rained out, the championship will be played at 5:30 p.m. May 21.
Tickets to the softball tournament are $10 and must be purchased through Gofan.com at the gate. Children ages 5-and-under will be admitted free.
