Madisonville Salutes is taking over Madisonville City Park on Saturday, and folks are invited to enjoy some live music and to honor the commitments of military veterans and first responders.
City of Madisonville Events Director Carrie Eison recently appeared on WHOP to spotlight all of Saturday’s festivities. Before the festival kicks off, Eison says traveling memorials will be on display in the park starting on Thursday.
The Traveling Vietnam Wall and Cost of Freedom Tribute and the WWII Memorials are returning, and Eison says the Traveling Korean War and the First Responder Memorials will be new this year.
On Saturday, she says fun starts at 3 p.m. with the Heroes and Hot Rods Car Cruise in, which is expected include up to 300 cars. The vendor market also opens at 3 p.m. and Eison says they will have around 40 vendors including food and retail booths, as well as organizations spotlighting resources available to military veterans and retired first responders.
Before the music gets underway, Eison says they will have an opening ceremony at 5:30 p.m. featuring an honor guard and a keynote speaker who will spotlight the commitments made by local service members.
Then, at 6 p.m. Country Music Artist Sarah Beth Brewer will perform, and Eison says she is excited to spotlight some local talent. Following Brewer, Country Music Artist Colt Ford will hit the stage at 7:30 p.m., and afterward, a firework show will light up the sky at 9 p.m.
