Calloway County scores late to clip Lady Colonels

Calloway County scored a run in the top of the seventh inning and held off host Christian County 4-3 Tuesday night in a high school softball game.

The Lady Lakers led 2-0 entering the fourth inning, but the Lady Colonels tied the game in the bottom of the frame using a pair of hits and a Calloway error.

A Christian County error in the top half of the fifth allowed the Lady Lakers to retake the lead 3-2.

However, the Lady Colonels struck again in the bottom of the frame to tie the game 3-3. Chloe Almy had a run-scoring double.

In the seventh, Calloway County rallied with one out as the Lady Lakers had a double and single to place runners at second and third base. A single by Jaylee McLeod scored Emerson Herndon with the go-ahead run.

The Lady Colonels had courtesy runner Sydney Ezell reach second base, but Almy flied out to end the game.

Almy finished with a pair of doubles to lead Christian County’s offense.

Christian County falls to 17-10-2 on the season and is scheduled to play at Paducah Tilghman on Thursday.
