Three Christian County High School wrestlers signed letters-of-intent to continue their scholastic and athletic careers at Midway University during a ceremony Friday afternoon at the high school’s media center.
Dane Miller, Deacon Harrison, and Treshawn Crenshaw all put pen to paper in front of teammates, friends, family, and coaches.
Crenshaw, who wrestled at heavyweight for the Colonels, said he was excited about the opportunity to be able to compete at the college level.
Crenshaw is a two-time state qualifier and went 27-10 in his senior season. His career record with the Colonels is 64-44.
Meanwhile, Harrison is coming off a season where he battled knee injuries to reach the state tournament at 157 pounds. His record in his senior season was 26-8 and his overall record was 74-40. He qualified for the state two times.
Harrison said he was excited to go to college and wrestle, but his journey is far from over.
Miller is a three-time state qualifier and a two-time state placer. His career record with the Colonels was 101-30 at 144 pounds.
Miller said he was excited to be able to wrestle at college with his Christian County teammates and other friends who will be with the Eagles.
Christian County Head Wrestling Coach Dee Leavell said all three wrestlers will be missed in the Colonels’ wrestling room. He said they always talked about leaving the program better than when they got there and they were able to do that.
Leavell said it is rare that three wrestlers from the same high school sign with the same college, but he was happy that the Midway staff was able to keep the Colonels’ stars together.
