The Touchstone Energy All “A” Baseball Tournament state champion University Heights Academy Blazers presented the trophy to the school during a presentation Monday afternoon in Blazer Gym.
Upper School Director Marvin Denison introduced the team to students, friends, family, and fans.
The Blazers, who jumped to No. 5 in this week’s Prep Baseball Kentucky Power 25 Poll, defeated No. 10-ranked Owensboro Catholic 6-1 on Saturday in the quarterfinals. On Sunday, UHA went back to Daviess County High School and defeated No. 21-ranked Campbellsville 4-1 and in the championship game, the Blazers scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat No. 14-ranked Beechwood 4-2.
UHA Head Coach Michael Crow said he was happy to share the title with the school, but winning the title hasn’t sunk in yet.
It is the first All “A” State Tournament title in baseball for UHA, which owns nine championships for small schools in basketball. The last time the Blazers won the All “A” basketball title was 2019.
In addition to the state title, UHA senior Hayden Hunt was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player and Cadence Gibson, Ryan Luckey, Courtland Gibson, and Jaiden Miles were selected to the All-Tournament Team.
The Blazers (19-3) are scheduled to play No. 4-ranked McCracken County Tuesday night with first pitch set for 6 p.m. at Chris Simmons Field.
