New CCHS Tigers open spring football practice session

The new Christian County High School Tigers’ football team opened its first spring practice on Wednesday at the Hopkinsville High School practice field.

Because of KHSAA rules, the players from the current Christian County and Hopkinsville high schools are not allowed to have contact; however, Tigers’ Head Coach Dustin Lopez said he and his staff were hoping to teach the systems.

Lopez said he had 75 players out at practice Wednesday, but expected about 30 more freshmen to be there on Monday. He also has several players currently participating in track.

He said the biggest challenge for the team so far is to come together as a team.

Lopez, said he was hoping to get a good look at his offensive line and secondary during the spring practice session.

The team will resume practice on Monday. The Tigers are allowed to practice 10 days in the coming month.
