Focus 21st to host community walkthrough of new CCPS high school

By News Reporter Gabby Cedano

Get ready Hopkinsville, Focus 21st Century Minority Leadership and the Hopkinsville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., is inviting the public to a forum and guided walkthrough of the new Christian County High School on March 5 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Focus 21st President Verdell Smith says the forum comes after growing interest and questions from the community about the highly anticipated school.

Smith confirmed that CCPS staff will attend, including new CCHS Executive Principal Ken Carver, who will help lead the walkthrough and answer questions about the building, student opportunities and the overall vision.

Smith encourages attendees to arrive with questions and be prepared to be impressed. He admitted that he was hesitant at first about the consolidation of Hopkinsville High School and Christian County High School, but seeing the new facility changed his outlook completely.

Those interested in attending are asked to park in the parking lot off of Lovers Lane near Fort Campbell Boulevard.

Smith says hosting this event is part of Focus 21’s continued effort to keep the community informed through public forums. He says a person once told him, “if you don’t know, you don’t know,” and these forums are just about giving people the information they need.

Food and drinks will not be allowed inside the building, so no refreshments will be served. Anyone seeking more details or updates can visit the Focus 21st Century Minority Leadership Facebook page.
