Trial ends in guilty verdict in 2022 Greenway rape, attack

Following a two-day trial in Christian Circuit Court this week, Jason Morse has been found guilty on rape charges for an attack that happened on the rail-trail in Hopkinsville in 2022.

The 45-year-old Morse testified at his own trial, but that didn’t stop a jury of his peers on finding him guilty for rape in the first-degree, first-degree strangulation and being a persistent felony offender in the first-degree.  He was found not-guilty for tampering with physical evidence.

Morse is convicted in the rape and attack of a woman on the rail-trail that happened in the area of Bahama Drive in July of 2022—the adult victim had been walking on the Greenway with earbuds in, listening to music, when Morse grabbed her from behind.

That’s when he raped her and strangled her, before threatening to kill her if she told anyone.

Following the guilty verdicts, the jury sentenced Morse to 50-years in prison.
