Relay for Life to kick off fundraising campaign with a pancake breakfast

After raising nearly $70,000 last year, Christian County Relay for Life is preparing to kick-off its 34th fundraising campaign starting with their annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday.

Relay for Life is an organization dedicated to supporting local individuals fighting cancer and their families during the treatment and recovery process. The nonprofit provides funding for cancer research, rides to treatment appointments, Hope Lodge stays and wigs for those undergoing chemotherapy.

Relay Committee Member Pam Futrell says the breakfast will be at First Baptist Church at 1400 South Main Street from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., and it costs $7 for a plate of pancakes and sausages. Folks can also get a plate to-go.

The theme of this year’s fundraising campaign is “Wild for a Cure,” and Futrell says they are planning on hosting the relay at the Hopkinsville Sportsplex in August.
