Webster County knocks off University Heights

Webster County held off visiting University Heights Academy 64-51 Thursday night in a boys’ high school basketball game.

UHA hung tough with the Trojans all night, trailing only 19-18 after one quarter and 32-27 at halftime.

Nash McAfee kept the Blazers in the game with 10 of his 16 points coming in the first half. The freshman guard hit a pair of three’s in the first two periods.

Webster (15-6) extended its lead to 45-38 after three quarters.

The Trojans made a living at the free throw line in the second half, making 14 out of 22 attempts. The Blazers (5-10) went to the charity stripe only five times in the second half with Keshawn Moore making all five of his attempts on the way to an 18-point night.

UHA is scheduled to play Tuesday night at Bowling Green. UHA’s game on Saturday with Apollo has been cancelled due to weather.
