The past few years the Toyota of Hopkinsville Christmas Holiday Classic has included area boys’ basketball teams and has been sprinkled with nationally ranked prep teams from the Grind Session.
After this year’s Grind Session event was not attended as well as hoped, Christian County Public Schools Activities Director Kerry Stovall, who was instrumental in bringing the prep schools to town, said the 2026 version of the event will focus on high school teams only.
Stovall made his remarks on a recent Early Bird Show.
He also said that the goal is for each sport at the new high school to be able to have a special event.
One of those ideas is a girls’ basketball tournament around Christmas next season.
The new high school will have a competitive gym and an auxiliary gym. Both will be college-sized floors, which should be attractive to schools wanting to play here.
