Fort Campbell, Clarksville agreements pave the way for Pennyrile Energy Corridor

Progress is continuing on the proposed Pennyrile Energy Corridor, after authorization was recently granted through the Clarksville City Council to pursue an interlocal natural gas suppl agreement.

According to a news release from the Pennyrile Regional Energy Agency, the Pennyrile Energy Corridor is a planned 53-mile-long natural gas pipeline that will run from Lamasco in Lyon County through Caldwell, Trigg and Christian County before coming an end in Guthrie in Todd County.

This project is designed to extend natural gas infrastructure into areas where severe is currently not available, while creating additional supply for existing users.

In May of 2025, the Agency finalized a natural-gas supply contract with Fort Campbell, providing the installation with an additional source of gas to support redundancy and operational reliability. The City of Guthrie, a charter member of the inter-local agreement creating PREA, was the first customer to sign a supply agreement after the entity’s formation.

PREA Chairman Eston Glover says, “These actions reflect steady progress and growing regional confidence in the Pennyrile Energy Corridor. While agreements with Clarksville and Fort Campbell address the need for additional and redundant supply, the broader goal is extending natural-gas service into areas that currently lack access and supporting future industrial development across the region.”
