Hopkins County Central survived several comeback attempts before holding off host University Heights Academy 88-76 Monday night in a boys’ high school basketball game.
The Blazers trailed by as much as 18 points in the first half before a late spurt cut the lead to 42-31 at halftime. UHA was able to get as close as six before the Storm pushed its lead back to double digits.
The Blazers made several other runs only to see Hopkins Central match them to take the victory.
KeShawn Moore led the Blazers, who fell to 5-7 overall, with 27 points. Jaiden Miles had 17 points and Hayden Hunt added 16.
The Storm (9-4) had five players in double figures led by Samari Pettus and Channing Stone, who both scored 20 points.
UHA returns to action Thursday night at Hopkinsville in a key District 8 game. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. and airtime is at 5:45 p.m. on Newsradio 99.3 FM and 1230 AM WHOP.
