The keys to the new Christian County High School Tigers’ football offense will be in the hands of veteran high school coach Rusty Goble.
New CCHS Tigers Head Coach Dustin Lopez posted on social media Monday that he has hired Goble as the school’s first offensive coordinator.
Goble is the son of former Christian County Colonels’ head coach Dan Goble and has been an assistant coach at several area schools for the last 29 years. Most recently he has been at Trigg County High School.
With Goble calling the offensive plays, the Wildcats set school records for most career passing yards and touchdowns (Jacob Wease) and receiving yards (Jaden Vaughn).
Goble also was an assistant at Christian County and helped the Colonels win 27 games over his final three seasons there. Quarterback Kolbe Langhi set the school record for most passing yards and Keyron Catlett set the school record for receiving yards.
Goble told WHOP Sports on Tuesday that he was excited about the opportunity to lead the Christian County Tigers’ offense in 2026.
“I want the offense to look like a fast break and attack the defense,” he said. “I feel like we have the athletes to compete with anyone. We will put special emphasis on our linemen, who will determine how successful we are.”
Lopez told WHOP on Monday that he was excited to hire Goble, as former Hopkinsville High School head coach and the Tigers’ offensive coordinator in 2025, Craig Clayton, had decided to hang up his whistle.
“He was just finishing out Hoptown High,” Lopez said of Clayton. “He may get back in it. The door isn’t shut at all.”
Lopez expects to name other assistant coaches for his staff in the coming weeks.
