New CCHS coaches hired for boys’ soccer, volleyball, cross country

Three more coaches were introduced for the new Christian County High School during a news conference Monday morning at the School Board Central Office.

William Bryan will be the soccer coach for the new school.

Bryan is a Hopkinsville native and will graduate from Lipscomb University this Saturday. He said he has family connections to the HHS program and community.

Bryan had a successful high school career at University Heights Academy where he scored 108 career goals, which is second all-time in the region. Bryan began his collegiate career at Maryville College where he earned Rookie of the Year, First Team All-Conference, All-Region, and Academic All-American honors.

He later continued his career at Lipscomb, logging more than 2,000 minutes and contributing five goals and five assists.

The volleyball coaching position will be held by Zach Hardison, who has recently been the head coach at Ohio County for the last three years. At Ohio County, he won two district titles and was named the 2024 Region 3 Coach of the Year. Before that, he was the head coach at McLean County and Hancock County as well as in the AAU program. Hardison also has served as an assistant coach at Apollo, Henderson County, and Daviess County high schools.

He said he was honored to be the first head volleyball coach at the new Christian County High School and agree with Bryan that the school should be a powerhouse.

The cross country coach is veteran coach Roger Volk, who has been the head coach at Hopkinsville High School from 2023-25 and also helped coach the Christian County program this season.

Volk said he was honored to be the first cross country coach for the Christian County Tigers

Volk is a 1977 graduate of Christian County High School and was the first Colonel runner to earn a medal at the state cross country meet. He won four individual regional titles in cross country and track. He was inducted into the Christian County High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011 and the Heritage Christian Academy Athletic Hall of Fame.
