Frigid temperatures and wind chills in store for this weekend

Winter is not taking a break, with the coldest temperatures and wind chills of the season set to roll through this weekend and another chance for snow this week.

That’s according to Meteorologist Derrick Snyder with the National Weather Service in Paducah, who says that while he may see a slight warm up to start the week off—with highs maybe touching the 50’s by Wednesday—another front brings a chance for snow Thursday night. Snyder says they’re not expecting any significant accumulations at this time from that event.

What they are expecting is for the temperatures to plunge into the frigid range, especially Saturday and Sunday, with Snyder saying you can expect temperatures in the teens and wind chills putting things down into the single digits.

He urged people to prepare for those temperatures now by winterizing your home and making sure you have means of heating your home safely—and make sure to dress appropriately for the temperatures when going outside.

It doesn’t look like our cold snap will linger for too long, with more seasonal temperatures in the 8-to-14-day outlook.  Stay tuned to the WHOP Family of Stations for any watches or advisories that may be issued due to cold conditions.
