The community is bidding farewell to a longtime educator and coach, as Harold Ray Wood passed away on Tuesday at the age of 84.
Born the son of the late Cecil and Ethel Lee Spurr Wood, Harold Wood was a longtime member and former deacon at First Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, and served in the Christian County Jail Ministry for several years.
He was a teacher, a coach and administrator with multiple school districts across Kentucky, before retiring as the principal of Hopkinsville High School.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Wood, his daughters, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday at Hughart, Beard and Giles Funeral Home.
