The Hopkinsville City Council recognized the members of the Cable Television Oversight Committee for their contributions before voting to repeal ordinances concerning the authority at Tuesday’s meeting.
Before the meeting got underway, Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight and Christian County Judge Executive Jerry Gilliam read a proclamation recognizing December as Human Rights Month.
Knight then presented Tom Wood, Paula Knight, Kenneth Hatzakorzian, Angelique Victor, Mark Graham and Ward 1 Council Member Vance Smith with key plaques of recognition and appreciation for their service on the Cable Television Oversight Authority.
Authority members approved a 10-year provider agreement, and Knight expressed his appreciation for their service.
Turning toward ordinances, council members approved repealing ordinances concerning the authority after it was dissolved in October.
Council members also approved signing a Memorandum of Understanding and a Deed of Conveyance between the city and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to widen a portion of Lafayette Road.
By approving the agreement, an easement for a 3,258 square foot parcel of Lafayette Road was temporarily transferred to the city.
At the next city council meeting, Knight says he plans to discuss the repairs that are needed at Bluegrass Splash Family Aquatic Center. At a previous meeting, he said the park is experiencing a leak that resulted in significant water loss.
To conclude the meeting, the council went into closed session concerning economic development, but no action was taken.
