Lady Warriors hope to continue building program

The 2024-25 high school basketball season was a struggle for the Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors.

HCA went 0-17 a year ago and opted out of the postseason.

During the offseason, head coach Josh Bridges resigned and HCA hired Jenny Arvin to take over the program. Like Arvin, who played college basketball, the Lady Warriors also added former college athlete Stephanie Stallins to the staff. Bridges also remained on the staff as an assistant.

Arvin has to replace several players but also returns some key members of the team, which has her excited about the 2025-26 season.

The Lady Warriors return freshman center Ava DeJager, who led the team in scoring last season. Bookend post player Lily Anderson, who is a sophomore, and senior forward Lexi Lyon also are back this season giving the HCA some size in the post.

Freshman guard Kynlee Henderson returns to lead the offense at point guard. Sophomore guards Riley Sutton and Chloe Peck also are back at the guard spot.

Arvin said middle schoolers Sophie Arvin and Gracie Stallins also are expected to add depth to the team. Brooklyn Wisdom and Emily Peck also will see playing time at guard.

With several new players on the team, Arvin said the team will try to play at a slower offensive pace and rely on a 2-3 zone defense.

Arvin said the Lady Warriors will participate in the postseason this season and their schedule will feature many of the teams HCA fans are used to seeing including District 8 foes Hopkinsville, Christian County, and Fort Campbell.

The Lady Warriors will open the 2025-26 season Dec. 1 at Covenant Christian Academy before taking part in the Kentucky Christian Athletic Conference Tournament on Dec. 5-6.

The team’s first home game is Dec. 16 against Community Christian Academy.
