Lady Colonels flying under the radar in 2025-26

The Christian County Lady Colonels are looking to fly under the radar in the 2025-26 high school basketball season with a strong junior class and the return of All-Region guard Anaysia Bagwell.

The Lady Colonels are coming off an 18-10 season that ended with a disappointing loss to Crittenden County in the Region 2 semifinals. They also lost two of their top scorers and rebounders from last year.

Christian County Head Coach Kiki Radford said the team has worked to put last year behind them and focusing on this season.

Leading the way for the Lady Colonels this year is Bagwell, who is arguably the top player in Region 2. The 5-foot-5 guard led the team in scoring at 16.1 points per game last season. She also made 66 3-pointers a year ago.

Radford said the Lady Colonels will be depending on Bagwell’s leadership this season.

Christian County has a strong junior class led by four players who saw plenty of minutes as sophomores.

Genesis McGee will play the point guard spot and twin sisters Carliah and Carlie Hobson will see time at the guard and forward spot. NeZiah Bell will start in the post.

Senior Adreyona Smith and freshman Aaliyah Bell also are expected to bolster the Lady Colonels at the guard position.

Freshman Deriona Hickman will see key minutes in the post for Christian County.

One of the challenges for this Christian County team will be replacing All-Region players NeVaeh Day and LaZarie Daniel, who combined to score 26.5 points and grab 17.3 rebounds per game a year ago.

Radford said this year’s team will have to find its own identity.

Radford said Henderson County and Crittenden County would be solid favorites to capture the Region 2 title this season. But she also said the Lady Colonels could surprise people, especially with most people feeling they are rebuilding.

Christian County opens its season Dec. 5 at home against Clarksville Kenwood. The Lady Colonels will play a tough schedule agains this season. The Lady Colonels will play in the Holiday Hoopla Classic against McCracken County and in the Firstbank Holiday Bash at South Warren.
