A tornado landed in north Guthrie early Saturday morning and traveled for over a mile, resulting in snapped trees and power poles and some damaged buildings.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, the tornado touched down at 12:38 a.m. and dispersed by 12:41 a.m. The tornado was categorized as an EF-1 and had peak winds of 98 mph.
An outbuilding was destroyed, and other small buildings suffered damage. However, no injuries or deaths were reported. Pennyrile Electric reported that 10 utility poles were snapped, resulting in power outages affecting approximately 600 members.
Saturday’s tornado is the 56th one to impact the weather service’s 58-county coverage region in 2025.
