Murder suspect found competent to stand trial

Following a mental evaluation, murder suspect Anthony Moore has been found competent to stand trial.

That information was relayed Wednesday morning in the Christian Circuit Courtroom of Judge John Atkins, and public defender Daniel Sherman says the mental evaluation was conducted by the Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Complex recently. He says their experts determined Moore is competent, and he has no objection to that report, but says they do still contend that Moore ‘lacked capacity’ at the time of the offense.

Moore is facing a charge of murder in connection with March shooting death of 31-year-old Cicara Chantel James at a location on Pembroke-Oak Grove Road. The Christian County Sheriff’s Department reports Anthony Moore was sitting on the porch when they arrived and allegedly admitted to the fatal shooting. He and James both reportedly lived in the home and had children together—those children were in the home when the incident occurred.

Along with murder, he is additionally charged with first-degree wanton endangerment.

A preliminary hearing was set for January 7, when Moore will reappear in court.
