Two people were killed in a house fire in Russellville Tuesday night, with the cause of the blaze under investigation.
According to the Russellville City Fire Department, firefighters responded to a residence in the 800 block of West Ninth Street in Russellville for calls that the back porch was on fire, with possible victims inside of the home. Upon arrival, crews found the home fully engulfed in flames.
The heavy fire conditions reportedly made rescue efforts impossible. Two victims were later recovered from the residence, and they have since by identified as 87-year-old Helen Daniels and her daughter, 57-year-old Vickie Blackwell by the Logan County Coroner, as reported by WRUS.
The Russellville City Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Russellville Rural Fire Department, Auburn Fire Department, Russellville Police Department, Logan County EMS, Logan County EOC, EPB, and Logan County Chaplains.
