Christian County Public Schools is celebrating the selection of two of its principals, Renikka Owen and Sara Johnson, for the 2026 cohort of the Kentucky Women in Education Leadership (KWEL) program, a distinguished network that recognizes and empowers women leaders across the state.

Owen is the principal of Hopkinsville Middle School and Johnson is the principal of Indian Hills Elementary School.

The leadership program is an initiative of the Kentucky Association of School Administrators (KASA) that identifies and supports female educators who demonstrate vision, integrity and a commitment to excellence in education. The 2026 class includes 33 leaders representing 22 school districts across Kentucky.

Assistant Superintendent Kevin Crider says they are extremely proud of Owen and Johnson for being selected as part of this prestigious class of educators from across the state. He believes that both are seasoned, proven and highly respected principals within the district, and participation in the program will further strengthen their leadership and professional growth.

Through the leadership program, participants engage in mentorship, professional learning and networking opportunities. Owen and Johnson will officially be inducted during the KWEL Leadership Forum, set for January 28 to January 29, 2026, in Louisville.
