The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is investigating a multi-state outbreak of Listeria infections, which could be linked to some prepared foods from Kroger.
There is a voluntary recall currently for certain bowtie and penne pasta salads sold at the deli service counter and in grab-no-go packages from the deli department, according to Kentucky Today. Stores in the recall include the Hopkinsville store and in Bowling Green, Nashville, along with other parts of western Kentucky.
No cases of Listeria have been reported in Kentucky so far, with 20 people reporting illness from 15 states. That’s according to the FDA.
Symptoms usually start within two weeks after eating food contaminated with Listeria but may start as early as the same day or as late as 10 weeks after. Mild symptoms may include a fever, muscle aches, nausea, tiredness, vomiting, and diarrhea. If the more severe form of listeriosis develops, symptoms may include headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions.
