A Florida teenager is facing charges in Murray, after allegedly making threats against the City of Murray and making false reports.
According to the Murray Police Department, at the end of August, officers responded to reports that a person was armed and threatening to hurt himself and others, but they quickly determined that the report was a ‘swatting’ incident. The number used to make the call was determined to have been spoofed, and the call for service was false.
While on the scene, another call was made, this time making bomb threats against the City of Murray by the same individual.
Investigation into the incidents eventually identified the caller as a 17-year-old juvenile from Boca Raton, Florida. The teen is charged with falsely reporting an incident which generates an emergency response, first-degree terroristic threatening and theft by deception.
The juvenile has been extradited back to Kentucky.
