A western Kentucky woman is celebrating after buying a winning $50,000 lottery ticket from Pal’s in Oak Grove recently.
According to the Kentucky Lottery, the winner—who has chosen to remain anonymous—said it was actually her son who encouraged her play while they made a stop at Pal’s. He says he had never seen the ticket, but told her to play because it stuck out to him. He says, “She scratched it off in the store and the first number, 52, appeared and she saw the prize, and we both got a little nervous. I told her to scratch off the barcode and scan it.”
That’s when it was revealed they had won $50,000, with the winner saying, “I could have fainted. I will tell you, though, I have problems with my hip and my back, but I think I jumped and did a little dance.”
She says she kept that ticket under her pillow that night, just to be safe.
She plans to use some of that money to pay for the education of several of her grandchildren entering college, and some of it to help pay off her church’s van.
Pal’s in Oak Grove will receive $500 for selling the winning ticket.
