Melissa Sellers Spurr has been selected to serve as the next general manager of the Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority (HWEA).
Spurr is set to take over the position that will be left vacant by longtime HWEA General Manager Derrick Watson. Watson will retire at the end of the year on December 31 after serving around 28 years with the company.
Spurr was named as the Chief Operating Officer in August and has been working with HWEA since August of 2013. Before serving as COO, Spurr was the Director of Finance and Business.
In a newsletter from HWEA, Spurr says her focus as general manager is to serve HWEA, support their teams and lead in a way that reflects the strength, heart and purpose of that defines the company.
