Lady Tigers blank Union for final home soccer win

The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers’ soccer team played its final home regular season match in school history Wednesday night and came away with an 8-0 win over Union County.

The Lady Tigers, who will consolidate next fall with Christian County High School, were led by Lauren Jones and Kaydon Coats, who each scored two goals.

Kaylynn Lynch had a goal and three assists. Kila Cherry, Yadira Idrogo, and Kaylynn Schwartz each had a goal and Grace Cansler provided an assist in the win.

Jaleigha McFarland and Karla Quintanilla shared the shutout in goal for the Lady Tigers, who improved to 10-8-1.

Hopkinsville is scheduled to play Fort Campbell in the District 8 Tournament semifinals at 7 p.m. Monday. However, if the government shutdown is still in place on Monday, the Lady Falcons will have to forfeit the match.
