Thanks to the quick actions of officers with the Oak Grove Police Department, they were able to save a man’s life and get him the help he needed on Monday.
According to the Oak Grove Police Department, officers responded to a home a on Cheshire Way to conduct a welfare check on a military veteran who appeared to be in distress while armed with a handgun and threating to hurt himself.
Upon arrival, officers were able to see the veteran through a window, holding a pistol to his head. Officers quickly established communication with him and were able to convince him to drop the handgun and surrender to police. From there, they transported him to a mental health facility to get the help he badly needed.
Officials with OGPD commend the dedication and compassion shown by their officers to this veteran, and reminds the community that if you or someone you know is struggling, there are resources available to help.
