Heritage Christian Academy and University Heights Academy faced off in an important District 8 volleyball game on Saturday afternoon in Warrior Gym.
In the end, it was HCA who came away with a 3-1 (25-16, 19-25, 25-21, 25-8) victory over the Lady Blazers.
The Lady Warriors had a strong offensive performance from Bralee Fowler and Hadlee Hayes, who had 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Hannah Phelps added six kills.
Makenzie McCarty stuffed the stat box with 31 assists, three aces, three kills, and five digs in the match. Emma Dalke also had three kills, four aces, five digs, and a block.
McCarty also was honored by the school for achieving 1,000 career assists.
UHA coach Faye Hendricks said her team played well, but lost its Libero after the second set and her team didn’t adjust well.
Megan Long had seven kills and a pair of aces and Gretchan Durham added two blocks, 12 digs, 13 assists, and a pair of aces.
Niyona Brown played well at the net for UHA with five kills and five blocks. Cassidy Keller had 15 digs, Ava Crawford added 12 digs and two assists, and Niyati Patel provided 13 digs and four kills.
HCA improved to 12-14 while UHA slipped to 9-15 on the season.
The Lady Blazers are back in action tonight at Todd County Central. HCA will play host to Christian County in a District 8 showdown tonight.
